AP Govt allocates Rs 150 crore for welfare hostels
Kakinada, Jan 30 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Social Welfare Minister Pilli Subhas Chandra Bose today said all the social welfare and BC welfare hostels in the state would be developed under Rs 150 crore plan cleared by the government.
Addressing the Principals' meeting at the Ambedkar Bhavan here, Mr Bose said the intake capacity in 300 SC gurukula schools and 730 BC gurukula schools in the State was being doubled to admit more number of students.
As against Rs 6,000 crore plan approved for this, he said, already Rs 400 crore was spent. The minister said efforts were also being made to hike the mess charges to the students residing in social welfare hostels, referring to incentives being extended.
Mr Bose said Rs 5,500 each was provided to 1450 SC students to get themselves prepared for the competitive examinations and fourteen more study circles were being started during the current year.
The Minister distributed Rs 4.90 crore post-metric scholarships on the occasion.
