K'taka: 2 students with terror link dismissed

Hubli, Jan 29: Two medical college students have been removed from their Hostels by the college authorities following their arrest and suspected connection with Laskhar-e-Toiba and SIMIi.

Authorities of Karnataka Institute of Medical Sciences and Ayurvedic College sent out Asif, a final MBBS student and Asadulla, a second year student, of their hostels. One of the suspected student, was arrested from Honnali police station limits of Davangere district while he was moving on a motorbike along with one Gous, said to be a cook and allegedly having links with terrorist organizations, recently for allegedly committing theft of two wheelers.

Police also recovered incriminating documents stolen from Goa.

The documents included a map of South India and few American dollars and a knife. On interrogation one of the arrested mentioned the name of MBBS final year student Asif.

Police who raided his hostel room here found some religious books. Following this incident rumor mongering began in the twin city with stories, including that the trio had planned to blast Hubli airport, appearing in a section of the press. Air port authorities here also confirmed that they had received directions to be more alert between January 25 and 30 following suspicion that the airport would be blasted on January 26, the Republic day.

Commissioner of police Narayan Nadamani, who confirmed the arrests, however, said that they were innocent till the investigation completed. They were mere two wheeler lifters for joy.
