Three killed in road mishaps in Kanchi dist

Kancheepuram, Jan 29 (UNI) Three persons were killed and five others seriously injured in two mishaps in this district, today.

Police said two persons were killed and three others injured when a container lorry ploughed through those waiting at a bus stop at Vellai gate, under the impact of another lorry colliding it from the rear. The victims, all coolies, were waiting for a bus to return home from work when the mishap occurred.

The deceased were identified as Manimaran (23) and lorry driver Parvatharaj (22) of Hosur.

In the other mishap, one Sreenivasan (45), a coolie, was crushed to death on the spot and two others injured when the sand-laden lorry, proceeding from Kancheepuram to Enambur, on which he was travelling overturned on a bridge here.

The injured were hospitalised.
