Strike at First Projects in Kuwait illegal
Kottayam, Jan 29 (UNI) Lawyers representing the Kuwait-based First Projects General Trading&Contracting company, Manoj C Nair and Monther Al Shamali today said the ongoing Indian workers strike in the company was illegal.
Denying the workers' allegations that they were not given salary regularly, they said an ulterior motive of certain labourers and some outsiders were behind the strike.
A group of 144 labourers collectively organised a stir against the wishes of the management and were on strike since October 22, 2007. Actions were being taken against 23 employees who were leading the strike.
Deportation proceedings and criminal cases against them were underway.
They appealed to the agitating workers to refrain from making defamatory statements against the company and the management.
