Primary schools in Delhi to remain closed till Sat due to cold wav
New Delhi, Jan 29 (UNI) The Delhi Government today ordered closure of all primary schools in Delhi till February 2 due to the severe cold wave sweeping the Capital city.
In a press conference at the Delhi Secretariat, Delhi Education Minister Aravinder Singh said, ''all primary schools in Delhi will remain closed from tomorrow till February 2 due to the cold wave in Delhi.'' Mr Singh said the order would apply to Government and private schools in the city.
''Schools not adhering to the order will be severely penalised,'' the Minister said.
The Capital has been hit by a severe cold wave since Sunday, with the mercury yesterday plummeting to 2.3 degree Celsius, six degrees below normal.
This is the second time this Winter that the primary schools in Delhi are being closed due to the cold wave. Earlier this month, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi had extended the Winter vacations in its schools till January 13.
