Higher reaches continue to receive snowfall

Shimla, Jan 29 (UNI) Higher reaches of the Himachal Pradesh continue to receive intermittent snowfall, while lower areas of the state had recorded marginal rise in Mercury.

Kinnaur and Lahaul-Spiti districts of the state were under continues intermittent snowfall. More than two cm of snowfall was recorded at Recong Peo in Kinnaur district. Low lying areas have been reported under heavy overcast, and no snowfall was recorded after the mild snowfall in forenoon.

Simultaneously Manali also witnessed mild snowfall early today.

Minimum temperature at Kalpa, stood at minus 8.5 degrees Celsius, but later despite the heavy overcast conditions the temperature soared up and hovered around minus 0.5 degree Celsius.

Shimla recorded the night temperature of O.2 degree Celsius, and the day temperature of 8.7 degrees Celsius.

Night temperatures in the mid and lower hills of the state had plummeted by a few points and the minimum temperature at Sundernagar has been recorded at 1.1 and maximum temperature was 15.0, at Dharamshala maximum temperature had been recorded 10.4 degrees Celsius.
