Addressing a press conference here, she said as many as 228 persons died in road accidents in Puducherry last year and the efforts to make helmets compulsory would bring the rate down.
Following this, in a bid to create awareness on the use of helmets the police had instructed that all police personnel should wear helmets, she said and added that the vehicle of police personnel who fail to respect the rule would be seized.
