Constitution of SRC not needed for formation of Telangana: CPI

Hyderabad, Jan 29 (UNI) Formation of Telangana State got a boost today with the Communist Party of India (CPI) suggesting that the new State could be created without constituting the Second States' Reorganisation Commission (SRC).

Addressing a press conference along with CPI National Council Secretarty Suravaram Sudhakar Reddy, CPI National Council General Secretary A B Bardhan said the UPA Government at the Centre could move a resolution in Parliament to provide statehood to Telangana, assuring that his party would support it.

Uttaranchal, Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand were formed based on the demand and were not referred to the SRC, he added.

Blaming the Congress for delaying the formation of separate Telangana, he said there were so many demands for separate Telangana and the UPA Government should honour the sentiments and demands of the people of the region.
