35 AR personnel honoured with gallantry awards
Imphal, Jan 29 (UNI) The Assam Rifles (AR), deployed in the North East, have been awarded for its outstanding performance.
Altogether 20 officers and 15 from other ranks were honoured with the awards in different catergories, AR officials said here today.
Twenty three officers, four JCOs and 15 jawans were presented the Commendation Card by Chief of the Army Staff and Army Commander Eastern Command.
In addition, one JCO and two from other ranks were awarded with the President Police Medal for Gallantry/ Meritorious service, AR PRO said.
The Assam Rifles have been involved in maintaining law and order, security and peace in the North East.
A large number of officers were also awarded with Ati Vishisht Seva Medal, Vishisht Seva Medal, Kirti Chakra, Shaurya Chakra, Sena Medal Gallantry and Distinguished Service Medals by President Pratibha Patil, sources said.
