India's northeastern states celebrate R-Day peacefully

Guwahati, Assam, Tripura, Agartala, India, Jan 26, 2008 : Elaborate celebrations and parades by soldiers marked the 59th Republic Day celebrations across India.

In the northeastern Tripura state, locals took part in the programme organized at the Assam Rifles parade ground in Agartala where Governor Dinesh Nandan Sahay unfurled the Tri-colour and took the guard of honour.
