Hand-woven silk industry booming in Banaras

Banaras, January 28, 2008 : The traditional Banarasi saris have for long been prized possessions in the wardrobe of almost every Indian woman.

And when Bollywood beauty Aishwarya Rai bought some Banarasi saris for her wedding trousseau, it drew the attention of lakhs of women throughout the country. And the beautiful silk yarn is again in the limelight and that too because of Aishwarya whose surname has now changed from Rai to Bachchan.
