Shiv Sena to hold 'Ghantanaad' tomorrow
Mumbai, Jan 28 (UNI) The Shiv Sena will organise 'Ghantanaad' in temples across the state tomorrow to ''awaken'' the Congress led coalition government in Maharashtra to address the farmers suicides issue.
Shiv Sena leader Subhash Desai said the 'Ghantanaad' (continuous ringing of bells) before the Gods is intended to bring the Government back to its senses. The 'Ghantanaad' will take place at 1800 hrs.
Mr Desai said that party supremo Bal Thackeray had directed his followers not to rest until the Government announces loan waiver and provide relief to the debt ridden farmers.
Shiv Sena executive president Uddhav Thackeray had recently held extensive discussions with Pune University Vice Chancellor Dr Narendra Jadhav, who is heading a state government committee to look into the issue of farmers suicides. Noted agriculture scientist Dr Budhajirao Mulik was also present on the occasion.
Dr Jadhav had opined that the farmers suicides was a black spot on the state, while Dr Mulik had said that complete loan waiver was the only solution.
