Rights panel to issue notice to train drivers
Kozhikode, Jan 28 (UNI) The Kerala Human Rights Commission (KHRC) today decided to issue notice to 34 locomotive drivers for resorting to a flash strike last months causing inconvenience to rail passengers in the state.
Justice V P Mohan Kumar after a sitting of the Commission here said separate notices will be issued to the drivers, who are members of the All India Loco Running Staff Assocaition, for going on agitation without prior notice on December 8.
Describing the strike as illegal, the Railway authorities had contended before the Commission that disciplinary action was being initiated against the erring employees.
The strike, which began at Thiruvanthapuram and later joined by loco staff of Palghat division, against a new roster system introduced by Southern Railway, had disrupted train services throughout the state.
