Prince William's RAF nickname - Billy the Fish!

London, Jan 28 : Prince William has earned a funny nickname during his training with the RAF - Billy the Fish.

The young royal, who is serving as a trainee chopper pilot with the special force, is known as Flying Officer Wales, which sounds like whales.

Thus witty companions have christened William after Viz comic's famous half-man, half-fish levitating goalkeeper.

And they are also coming up with a joke badge bearing the name, which will be presented to the 25-year-old Prince when he finishes his course at RAF Cranwell, Lincs, in April.

"Thinking up nicknames is a big RAF tradition and the boys came up with Billy the Fish for Wills," The Sun quoted an RAF insider, as saying.

"He's tickled pink - and the badge is an extra incentive for him to qualify," the insider added.
