Mercury rises, but state reeling under coldwave
Shimla, Jan 28 (UNI) Despite a marginal increase in the minimum temperatures in the hilly state there was no let up in the prevailing cold wave following mild snowfall in the higher reaches this morning The tribal districts of the state, Kinnaur and Lahaul-Spiti had recorded mild snowfall early morning, and heavy overcast conditions were reported prevailing in both of the tribal regions.
Temperature at Kalpa has slightly increased and stood at minus 9.8 degrees Celsius.
The minimum temperature at Shimla rose by couple of points to stand at 0.6 degrees Celsius as against minus 2.5 degrees recorded yesterday.
The Minimum temperature at Sundernagar was recorded at 2.6 degrees and at Bhuntar 3.2 degrees Celsius. A marginal rise had been recorded in the night temperature in both theses places.
In the lower reaches, Una was the coldest at 0.5 degrees Celsius.
Overcast conditions across the state led to plunge in the temperatures this afternoon.
