Helmets mandatory for 2-wheeler riders

Kanpur, Jan 28: Kanpur traffic police have made wearing helmets mandatory for two-wheeler drivers from today.

According to Police Superintendent (Traffic) Ram Lal Verma, a Rs 300 would be penalized from two-wheeler riders without helmets. Verma said in the 273 two-wheeler accidents in the city, 153 persons were killed. About 650 two-wheeler challans were issued only yesterday during surprise check of two-wheelers.

Meanwhile, the traders have hiked the helmet prices in wake of the mandatory order for wearing helmets.
