HC upset over tardy progress in investigation

Mumbai, Jan 28 (UNI) The Maharashtra government today informed the Bombay High Court that a FIR had been filed against two policemen of Oshiwara police station for destroying evidence and dereliction of duty in a case related to an accused Aman Sidhhiqui, charged with abduction of Lokhandwala 'bargirl' Dolly.

While disapproving of the investigation into the disappearance of Aman, a division bench comprising Justices R M S Khandeparkar and Amjad Sayyad also directed the police to submit further investigation report by February 13.

The matter will come up for further hearing on February 14.

Justice Khandeparkar had earlier visited Oshiwara police station personally in connection with the petition filed by Aman's father, and found that no record was being maintained regarding persons kept in the temporary custody of the police station.

The police claimed that Aman ran away on March 28, 2007 from their custody when he was being taken to laterine, whereas his family members suspect foul play at the hands of the police, apprehending that he might have been eliminated by the policemen.
