Dowry forced woman to commit suicide

Kolhapur, Jan 28: A 23-year-old woman allegedly committed suicide by consuming pesticide at powerloom town Ichalkaranji of this district. The deceased, identified as Megha Vikas Mali, allegedly consumed pesticide and administrated the same to her three-year-old son, Ritesh, on Jan 27 at her residence, police said.

Both were rushed to a hospital where she later died during treatment, while Ritesh is stated to be in a serious condition. Megha took this step because of constant harassment for dowry by her family, police said and added that cases have been booked against her husband, Vikas, father-in-law, Balasaheb Mali, mother-in-law, Sushila and two others.
