Bangladesh bound cattle seized in Assam

Guwahati, Jan 28: A cattle consignment worth over Rs 20 lakh was seized by the BSF in Indo-Bangladesh border in Assam's Dhubri district yesterday. BSF sources informed that the consignment of 114 cattle was from Haryana and was being smuggled into Bangladesh. The cattle were worth over Rs 20 lakh in value, the sources added.

Cattle smuggling through the porous international border in Dhubri has been among the problems the BSF combats in the border, besides its task of checking infiltration. More than 6,000 cattle, worth over Rs 8.17 crore, were seized from the sector by BSF last year.
