60 observers to supervise Tripura polls
New Delhi, Jan 28 (UNI) The Election Commission today briefed 60 observers for supervising the February 23 Assembly election in Tripura.
The briefing was held by Chief Election Commissioner N Gopalaswami and two Election Commissioners Navin Chawla and S Y Quraishi here, the Election Commission said in a statement.
Of the appointees, 52 are general observers and eight expenditure observers.
While each constituency will be looked after by one general observer, one expenditure observer will supervise seven to eight constituencies each, the statement added.
The observers will reach their alloted constituencies at least one day before the last day of nomination and stay till the end of the polling day.
They (the observers) were directed to ensure that all those officers who stand transferred for different reasons, physically move out of their current locations.
