TRS demands resignation of Congress MPs, MLAs
Hyderabad, Jan 27 (UNI) Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) President and former union minister K Chandrasekhara Rao today demanded that the Congress MPs, MLAs and MLCs from the Telangana region should resign from their membership on the lines of the TRS representatives' announcement to do so on March six.
Talking to newspersons here, he said the elected representatives of the Congress from the region should prove their sincerity on the formation of Telangana state by tendering their resignation letters to the party high command.
''Obviously, the Congress high command will come down from its stand after the leaders submit their letters and the formation of Telangana would be realised,'' he added.
Accusing the ruling Congress and Opposition Telugu Desam Party (TDP) of being reluctant to accept the sentiments of people of Telangana Mr Rao said the TRS people's representatives have submitted their resignation letters to him. The letters of the party's four MPs, 16 MLAs and three MLCs would be forwarded to the Lok Sabha Speaker, State Assembly Speaker and State Legislative Council Chairman respectively on March 6 for official acceptance.
The resignation letters would be shown to the people at a public meeting to be organised on January 31 at Nalgonda, he added.
