A bench comprising Chief Justice K G Balakrishnan and Justice R V Raveendran issued notice on January 25 after hearing the counsel for the petitioner who contended that genetically modified food substances were extremely harmful for health and the people were exposed to health hazards as the only check on these food articles had been removed.
