BSF seizes cattle along the Indo-Bangladesh border
Shillong, Jan 27 (UNI) The Border Security Force(BSF) seized cattle worth over Rs. 15.5 lakh, on Saturday last, near Dhubri, Assam, about to be smuggled to Bangladesh.
BSF DIG of (Assam-Meghalaya) frontier VS Sikarwar today said that about 114 cattle were brought from Haryana to be smuggled to Bangladesh. Troops of 29 battalion of the frontier seized the cattle.
Last year, the frontier guards seized 6,311 cattle worth over 8.2 crore along the Indo-Bangla border, Mr Sikarwar added. Cattle smuggling along the Indo-Bangla border is a flourishing illegal business owing to huge demand of cattle in the neighbouring country.
