BJP Nat Exec Meet begins; Rajnath for wresting power at Centre
New Delhi, Jan 27 (UNI) Keeping the morale of the cadres high after BJP's poll victory in four states including Gujarat in 2007, party president Rajnath Singh today urged partymen to work unitedly to capture power at the Centre and in the coming elections in eight states, highlighting the all-round failures of the UPA government.
Inaugurating BJP's daylong National Executive meeting at Parliament Annexe here, Mr Singh said the party had the task of converting challenges into golden opportunities to gain victory.
''It will be possible only when we engage ourselves in our areas with commitment and dedication ... the responsibility of unfulfilled dreams of former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee has been given to Mr L K Advani. We have to convert this golden opportunity into victory,'' he said.
Describing the NDA as a 'natural alliance', he said the coalition relationship had matured during the last one decade with Janata Dal (United) and Akali Dal, while its relationship with Shiv Sena was as old as two decades. The UPA, on the other hand, was ridden with contradictions where the parties were at each others' throats in regional areas but had ganged up only to fight the BJP, he alleged.
The BJP and the NDA had projected Leader of the Opposition L K Advani as the Opposition's choice for prime ministership. Former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee had blessed Mr Advani by handing over the responsibilities and would remain a source of inspiration and guidance in the future, he added.
