24 policemen injured during a cultural programme on Republic Day
Saharsa, Jan 27 (UNI) At least 24 policemen sustained severe injuries in a stone pelting incident during a cultural programme in a local stadium under Sadar police station area in the district late last night.
Superintendent of Police Kunwar Singh said here today that a cultural programme was organised on Republic Day in Saharsa stadium where a local Bhojpuri artist was performing.
Later, as a mob tried to enter the stadium forcefully, the security personnel stopped them.
Subsequently, the irate mob started pelting stones on the police personnel, injuring 24 of them. The mob also damaged eight vehicles, including two police vans.
Police arrested 12 persons so far in this connection and interrogation was on.
