War against corruption to continue: Vakil
Srinagar, Jan 26 (UNI) Ruling out any compromise on war against corruption, Jammu and Kashmir minister for Social Welfare and State Congress Vice-President Abdul Gani Vakil has reiterated the resolve of the coalition government to continue its fight against corruption which has eaten into the titals of the society.
He said anybody, how so high he may be, if found involved in malpractices, would not be spared.
Addressing a Congress workers rally at Congress headquarter here last evening, the Minister said that what the earlier governments could not do in 50 years, the present government did in three years.
He said carving out of eight new districts, sub-divisions and tehsils, implementation of Roshni Act and opening of 40 new colleges in the State were the landmark achievements of the present government.
He said the Government is making all out efforts to assuage the problems and address the concerns of the people.
Referring to the unemployment in the State, Vakil said that more than 7000 Anganwari workers and 268 Supervisors besides, other posts were being filled up in the Social Welfare department shortly and adding that thousands of vacancies in other departments were being referred to Public Service Commission and Services Selection Recruitment Board for recruitment to tackle the unemployment problem.
The Minister called upon the people to strengthen the Congress party at the grass root level in every nook and corner of the State.
He extended his gratitude to Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi for providing liberal funds for development works and taking keen interest in the welfare of people of Jammu and Kashmir.
Speaking on the occasion, the State Power Minister Babu Singh said that power scenario in the state would improve in the days to come adding various measures were already underway in this regard.
He said schemes aimed at harnessing the hydro power potential in the state were being formulated and even some major power projects were nearing completion.
He asked the workers to infuse a new life into the party so that it could came to the power again. He dubbed the party leadership as rock which backed its the workers and would do everything possible to minimise their problems.
