Notorious criminal done to death

Gulbarga, Karnataka, Jan 26(UNI) A notorious criminal involved in several cases of murder, extortion and robbery, operating on the Karnataka-Maharashtra Border was done to death in an attack by a rival gang here today.

According to police, Shivananda Pundalika Girigi (35) and his Brother Vittal (40) were attacked by a gang led by Annaveerappa of Bidar in their Gola (B) Village in Aland Taluk in the District this morning.

The assailants fled the scene after inflicting serious injuries on the victims. While Shivanand succumbed on the spot, Vittal was admitted to the Government General Hospital here.

A special police team has been formed to nab the culprits, the sources said, adding Shivanand was wanted by Maharashtra and Karnataka Police.
