Mah Govt expects to produce 1,500 mw of electricity: Patil

Sangli, Maharashtra, Jan 26 (UNI) Maharashtra Cooperation Minister Patangrao Kadam today said the state government has expected to produce about 1,500 mega watt of electricity through co-generation project with sugar factories.

Speaking at a function after unfurling of the Tricolour on the occasion of the 59th Republic Day celebrations here, Mr Kadam, who is also District Guardian Minister, said some sugar factories were permitted to co-generate electricity, while for the other interested parties it will be granted soon.

With this, the government has anticipated that about 1,500 MW of electricity would be produced in the state, he said.

In the last two years, the sugar industry was passing through various problems, and granting permission for co-generation of power was an effort by the government to bail out the beleaguered industry, he pointed out.
