Life crippled due to general strike in Kashmir

Srinagar, Jan 26: Life was today paralysed due to general strike called by militant and separatist organisations, including both the factions of the Hurriyat Conference (HC) on Republic Day.

Shops and business establishments in the civil lines and other major districts remained closed and traffic was off the road. However, the government offices and commercial establishments remained closed on account of holiday today. Streets wore a deserted look as people remained indoor, apprehending trouble. Reports of complete shut down were also received from Baramulla, Anantnag, Badgam and other districts in the valley.
