Educate women, eradicate illiteracy:Razi
Ranchi, Jan 26 (UNI) Jharkhand governor Syed Sibtey Razi today stressed on the need to educate women for attaining cent per cent literacy in the state.
Unfurling the Tri-colour at the historic Morabadi ground here on the occasion of 59th Republic Day, Mr Razi said women literacy rate in the state was stood at only 40 per cent, far below the national average.
He also expressed concern over the fact that the situation was poorer in the rural areas adding that the government was required to take initiatives in encouraging the girl students.
''The seven-year-old state has achieved in many fronts but the challenge was ahead to take it to the empyrean heights of development,'' Mr Razi stated.
Terming insurgency as a major problem, he said the government was making plans to generate employment for youths in the vilages and modernise the police to combat the menace.
