Court quashes petition against Christian meetings
Kakinada, Jan 26 (UNI) Second Additional Senior civil Judge P Ramesh today quashed a petition filed by Jyoti kumar Reddy, a Christian leader, seeking temporary injunction restraining the police and Hindu fundamentalists from preventing foreign evangelists addressing gospel meetings.
In his order, the Judge agreed with the contention of Pepakayala Ramakrishna, Assistant government pleader and Uppaluri Ramarao, the counsel for ''Hindu Jagarana samithi'' that police cannot be restrained from discharging their legitimate duties.
The evangelists on a tourist visa should not carry on any religious propaganda, he said.
The Judge also observed that police were within their rights in restraining evangelists from addressing Gospel meetings.
