Workshop on how to conquer exam phobia

Chennai, Jan 25: The Avon Institute of Modern Sciences (AIMS), will organise a day long workshop here on January 27 on ways to face an exam and get rid of exam phobia.

In association with leading educational institution SRM University, the workshop titled ''Big Plus Centum'' would be attended by students from nearly 50 schools to prepare themselves for facing Plus Two board exams in March,'' Ms Gita Prabhu of AIMS and Dr Muthu Subramanian, SRM University Dean, Admissions, told mediapersons here yesterday. ''We will also demonstrate some exercises to overcome exam fear and how to keep the mind relaxed before entering the exam halls,'' Ms Gita said.

Presentation skills, significance of practising previous years' model papers, how to be alert during exams and the importance of time and stress managements would be the main focus of the workshop, she added.

''Eventhough most of the students are well-versed with the context of the text books, when it comes to scoring high marks, they miss out on certain vital factors leading to loss of marks,'' she said.

The workshop would give tips to the students on how to go through the question paper and choose the right question, as reports suggested that most of the bright students were not even able to solve the question paper completely last year.

''With the scrapping of Common Entrance Exam from last year, students have to be more alert and efficient in getting high marks in the board exams which paves them the way for admission in good colleges, be it Arts and Science or Engineering,'' Ms Gita said.

On the occasion, SRM University would also distribute a booklet to the participating students featuring questions and answers with worthy suggestions, do's and dont's to face the board examinations and score high marks.
