Slain Indian student's body to be brought tomorrow :Mahato
Jamshedpur, Jan 25 (UNI) The body of slain Indian student, Abhijit Mahato, who was shot dead on the Duke University campus in Durham, America, on Janurary 18, would be brought to his ancestral place at Gamharia, near here, tomorrow.
Jharkhand Deputy Chief Minister Sudhir Mahto today said he Union External Affrairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee in New Delhi yesterday and discussed about handing over the body to his relatives at the earliest.
Mr Mahto said Mr Mukherjee had assured all sorts of help on behalf of the government to bring back the body from the US and said he talked to Indian ambassador to the US in this regard and the body was being flown to India today.
Mr Mahto said the body would reach Delhi tomorrow and it would be brought to Jamshedpur via Ranchi.
The state government would bear all the cost to hand over the body to Abhijit's family.
Abhijit was gunned down by some youths near the university campus and acting on a tip off, the US government arrested three youths including the shooter, Mr Mahto said.
He also expressed concern over the lack of security to the Indian students in the United States and urged the Centre to initiate appropriate stepts to recur such incident.
