Security beefed up ahead of R-Day in Nagaland
Kohima, Jan 25 (UNI) Security measures have been beefed up throughout Nagaland for peaceful celebration of the Republic Day tomorrow following boycott calls given by several underground outfits in the region.
Official sources said although there is no boycott call by any underground group from Nagaland, there is possibility of some sneaking cadres of underground outfits.
Meanwhile, the North East Frontier Railway has cancelled all passenger services in the region from Wednesday till January 27 following the boycott call by the rebel outfits.
Nagaland government has already prepared to celebrate the Republic Day throughout the state. The main function will be at Secretariat Plaza in Kohima where Nagaland Governor K Sankaranarayanan will unfurl the tri-colour.
About 17 contingents of security forces, NCC, Bharat Scouts and Guides, schools and colleges will take part in the march past.
Altogether 15 government departments will vie for the Governor's Trophy for excellence with presenting their tableaux. There will be presentation of cultural items by various tribes of the state.
