Safety on capital roads:Speed limits imposed
New Delhi, Jan 25 (UNI) The Delhi police today imposed a limit on the speed of vehicles in the capital for the safety of motorists and other road users.
''It is necessary to regulate the speed of motor vehicles on the roads of the National Capital Territory of Delhi for the safety of motorists as well as other commuters/road users,'' a notification issued by DCP, Traffic Rupinder Kumar said.
The order, which came into force with immediate effect, imposed a speed limit of 50 kmph on cars, jeeps and two-wheelers on the entire area inside the Ring road and trans Yamuna.
The limit for the Ring road and the outer Ring road, areas between the outer Ring road and Ring road and beyond outer Ring road has also been fixed at 50 kmph.
The corresponding limit for all national highways beyond the outer Ring Road, Gurgaon road beyond Dhaula Kuan and Mathura road beyond the Ashram Chowk has been fixed at 60 kmph, while that on the Noida toll road is 80 kmph, Saviri flyover at 40 kmph and 25 kmph inside all the residential areas.
