Mayawati has adequate security: Jaiswal
Kanpur, Jan 25 (UNI) Denying the Special Protection Group (SPG) cover to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati, Union Minister of State for Home Sriprakash Jaiswal today said the Centre has provided adequate security to the former.
Talking to newsmen here, Mr Jaiswal said that besides 36 National Security Guards, other necessary security cover was provided to the CM ''Ms Mayawati does not come under the norms of being provided the SPG, '' Mr Jaiswal claimed.
He further said the Centre was worried about the proper security cover to all the CMs of the country. The security measures were also reviewed by the Centre from time to time.
The delay on the part of the Uttar Pradesh government was posing problems for starting the developmental programmes under the Jawahar Lal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM), Mr Jaiswal, who is also a local MP alleged.
Various projects under the JNNURM, including solid waste management, water supply, sewerage, basic services to the urban poor were sanctioned, he added.
Mr Jaiswal claimed that he had provided the state government, developmental projects amounting to Rs 450 crores for the city's development.
