India moving in the path of Vision 2020: Pillai
Tiruchirapalli, Jan 25 (UNI) The country is moving ahead in accordance with Vision 2020, Defence Research and Development Organisation Chief Controller (Research and Development) and BrahMos Aerospace Chief Executive and Managing Director A Sivathanu Pillai said.
Speaking at a function here yesterday, Mr Pillai said the concept of Vision 2020 envisaged visionary thinking in research.
In the five core developmental areas -- agriculture and food processing; education; information and communication technology; infrastructure; and crucial technologies -- identified for making the country an economic superpower, development of materials technology found a prominent place, according to vision 2020.
Research thrust would lead to innovations by exploiting India's strength in the form of advanced laboratories, good human resources and large reserves of precious mineral deposits.
With abundant youth population, India was poised to become the most developed country surpassing China, what with Western countries facing economic recession, he added.
