HC allows DMRC to proceed with demolations as per the law
New Delhi, Jan 25 (UNI) Delhi High Court today allowed the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) and DDA to go ahead with demolation of some structures near Azadpur area to make way for the Metro rail.
Earlier the Court had granted one month time to the residents to voluntarily remove their constructions but since they failed to do so the Court has allowed DMRC and DDA to proceed in accordance with the law.
Earlier on December 7, the Court had directed the Land Aquisition collector (LAC) to earmark the area which is required for the project. The court granted one month time on the residents plea who had sought one month time to voluntarily remove the structures from the area. After lapse of one month time the residents have not yet cleared the area so the Court asked the DMRC and DDA to proceed according to the Law.
Justice T S Thakur and Justice Aruna Suresh observed that despite the LAC earmarking the area, the residents have not removed their structures (shops and some houses) from the area so no more time can be granted to them for voluntarily removing their structures.
