Congress expect change in leadership before Budget session

Imphal, Jan 25 (UNI) The Congress dissidents of Manipur unit, who have been camping in New Delhi since last two to three months, are expecting party chairperson Sonia Gandhi to change O Ibobi Singh as the Chief Minister.

The budget session is scheduled to begin on February one next and the dissidents expect the change within this month.

The dissidents claim that out of 31 Congress MLAs in the 60-member House about 19 MLAs were supporting them.

Mr Ibobi has reportedly proposed the name of Elangbam Kunjeshore of Yaiskul Assembly constituency.

The dissidents have proposed the name of senior Cabinet minister, Th Debendra as the next chief minister.

The Chief Minister, who was also in the national capital, has returned here today for the Republic day celebrations.
