Chautala promises to buy wheat at MSP Rs 1000, sell at Rs 500
Kurukshetra, Jan 25 (UNI) If voted to power, the United National Progressive Alliance (UNPA) would purchase wheat from the farmers at the MSP of Rs 1000 per quintal and give it to the poor at the rate of Rs 500 per quintal, Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) president and former Haryana chief miniister O P Chautala said here today.
Mr Chautala, while addressing a rally of the party supporters belonging to the backward classes, strongly criticised the UPA government for its ''anti-farmer and anti-worker policies which were aimed to put the coommonman at the disadvantageous stage for the benefit of the rich industrialists and trading communities.'' He said claimed that the Indian farmers were paid a meagre of Rs 850 per quintal for the wheat, the people at large were being sold wheat at the rate of Rs 1400-1500 and the Centre was purchasing wheat from foreign countries almost at the double rate.
He exhorted the INLD supporters to shun their differences and muster strength to root out Congress Party from power in the next parliamentary and assembly elections so that ''indigenous rule'' could be established in the country.
