Man kills daughter, stabs family, attempts suicide

Shimoga, Karnataka, Jan 24 (UNI) A 50-year-old man said to be suffering from a mental disorder, killed his two-and-a half-year-old daughter and stabbed his mother, wife and son at Tudki Village in Tirthahalli Taluk in the district today.

Police said Dinesh Gowda stabbed his wife Sharada (35), mother Lalithamma (68), daughter Divya and a five-month-old son after picking up a quarrel while performing rituals for his father's death anniversary.

Gowda, who was upset with his mother's remark while performing rituals, stabbed all his family members and tried to commit suicide by consuming poison.

While his daughter succumbed to injuries, the other family members were admitted to hospital with grievous injuries.

The condition of Dinesh Gowda was also stated to be serious, police added.
