'IS 195' is finally nabbed after 21 years

Lucknow, Jan 24 (UNI) Dreaded don Brajesh Singh entered the world of crime following the murder of his father in a land dispute.

Born in 1965 in an ordinary family, Brajesh committed his first crime in 1986 when he killed Harihar Singh- who had alleged by killed his father Ranvindra Nath Singh, a school teacher in 1984.

Later, he teamed up with a local criminal Sahib Singh and killed a village rival Raghunath Singh Yadav in Ahmedabad.

''His crime records show that after the two murders, there was no looking back for Singh who formed his own gang of armed men with the help of another mafia Virendra Sahi,'' said a senior police officer quoing his crime record.

Registered as IS (inter-state) criminal 195 in police records, Brajesh always managed to dodge the police. The success came yesterday, when Special Cell of Delhi Police arrested him from Bhuvneshwar. ''Technically speaking, UP police could never catch him. Though his arrest is a big success for us, he was caught by Delhi Police,'' said the official.

Interestingly, UP Police had no photo of the don till 2004. And the one it has was very old.

The other members of his gang include Udaynath Singh alias Chulbul Singh, his sibling and a BJP MLC; Hriday Narain Singh, BJP MLA Ajay Rai; Bablu Singh; Narendra alias Mama; Tribhuvan Singh; Vijay Shanker Singh; Surendra Singh and Mukesh Singh alias Pattu.
