Illegally cut wood seized; two arrested
Tirupati, Jan 24 (UNI) The Railway police held two persons and seized 4,210 kg of illegally cut wood while they were loading it into the Sampark Kranthi Express here last night.
Railway police said that based on a tip off, lorry driver Srinath Reddy (38) and lorry owner Shaik Masthan (39) were held while they were loading the illegal wood in 80 bags, worth Rs five lakh, into the train, proceeding to Delhi from here.
On interrogation, they revealed that the wood was cut from the nearby deep forest area.
The duo was handed over to the forest department along with the lorry and wood for further action, police added.
