Varsity to hold memorial service to Indian student

Washington, Jan 24: Duke University on Friday will organise a memorial service for its doctoral student Abhijit Mahato, who was shot dead in in his apartment on last Friday.

A Hindu temple in Morrisville, North Carolina, will also hold a prayer meeting on Sunday morning. The Durham police was yet to find any clues into the murder. Police was talking to Mahato's friends and the other residents of his apartment complex. Mahato (29), a second-year PhD student in the Pratt School of Engineering at the Duke University, was studying computational contact mechanics. He belonged to the Indian state of Jharkhand.
