US diplomat Nicolas Burns decides to retire

Washington DC, Jan 19, 2008 : One of the top architects of the Bush administration's policy of greater diplomatic engagement and the US State Department's third-ranking official Nicholas Burns has announced his resignation amid signs that U.S. efforts on key issues have been losing momentum.

U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said on January 18, that Nicholas Burns, a key U.S. policy maker on Iran and India has decided to retire for personal reasons.
