Special meals prepared for Muharram

Lucknow, Jan 19, 2008 : Special meals were prepared in Lucknow on January 19 on the occasion of Muharram, the Shi"ite Muslim festival of mourning. Muslims throughout the world are observing the day of mourning, marking the martyrdom of Imam Hussain, the grandson of Prophet Mohammad, amid tight security.

On this occasion a customary meal is served to Shi"ite Muslims. The tradition of serving food is age old and has been the hallmark of Lucknow"s culture heritage.
