Rs 631 crore for earthquake disaster management: Gen Brij
Pune, Jan 23 (UNI) The Union Government has earmarked a huge allocation of Rs 631 crore towards the earthquake disaster management, National Disaster Management Vice-Chairman Gen N C Brij (Retd) said.
He said this while speaking at the second anniversary of the National Disaster Force at the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) Camp in Talegaon, near the city.
Government has also announced a funding of Rs 2,000 crore for the ''Cyclone Mitigation Project'' to be implemented in the next five years.
The 145 CRPF battalion has been entrusted with the task of serving in the western region comprising of Maharashtra, Karnataka and Goa, Gen Brij said.
The battalion has done laudable service during the Tsunami calamity, he added.
The two-day exhibition has been projecting ways and means to deal with the natural calamities which can strike at any time. A total of 45 officers and the men of the 145 CRPF Battalion are taking part in the exhibition.
