Govt mulls quota for backward 'Arundhatiars'
Chennai, Jan 23 (UNI) The Tamil Nadu Government will consider for providing special reservation to socio-economically backward 'Arundhatiars', within the quota of reservation for Scheduled Castes, Governor S S Barnala told the State Assembly today.
Delivering his customary address to the House, he said the government would consult all political parties and arrive at a decision on the possibility of providing special reservation to them within the quota of reservation for Scheduled Castes.
Mr Barnala said the DMK Government, which had inherited the great legacy of the Justice Party, had always been a champion of Social justice.
The government would continue to strive for reservation in Central Government-run educational institutions and employment in private sector, the state Governor added.
