CPI(M) urges Centre to drop petrol price hike
Puducherry, Jan 23 (UNI) The Puducherry unit of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) urged the Union Government to drop its proposal to hike the prices of petroleum products.
CPI(M) Secretary V Perumal in a statement here demanded the reduction of petroleum products by restructuring taxes.
Alleging that the Puducherry government failed to curb the price rise of essential commodities, Mr Perumal yesterday demanded the supply of six essential commodities through the Public Distribution System(PDS).
CPI(M) would organise picketings in five centres here to protest the central and state government policies, he added.
