Congress,BJP,CPI(M) demand probe into PMGSY implementation in Sikkim
Gangtok, Jan 23 (UNI) The Sikkim Congress, BJP and CPI(M) today jointly submitted a memorandum to Governor Sudarshan Agarwal, demanding an investigation by a proper agency into the implementation of Prime Minister Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) scheme in the state.
'' During our visit to only one district, we have found that the payment for several works under the PMGSY has been made in full but work is not yet completed. There are many roads falling within the capital town and its surroundings, which do not fall under the PMGSY guidelines, while many areas of the district requiring rural roads have remained unconnected, '' the memorandum stated.
The Opposition also submitted a copy of their findings to the Governor.
The parties had recently embarked on a joint mission and visited several parts of East Sikkim for taking stock of the Central schemes.
The parties possessed evidence, which showed that the programmes had either not been properly implemented or not at all implemented despite of having the fund already drawn, said state Congress president Nar Bahadur Bhandari.
The Opposition parties demanded that the matter be investigated properly by a proper agency so that the misdeeds were checked in time and the programme of the Union Government reached the targetted people.
